When a  Scanners scans a barcodes it collects all the information contained within the barcode. This could include any of the following, part number, best before date, weight..etc. This information is then processed and allows for efficient stock control.

Data Collection Devices

The Data Collection terminals are converged devices. Essentially it is a hand held computer, typically running Microsoft's Windows Mobile Operating System.  They normally consist of a Barcode Scanner, Imager, Phone, with Wireless capabilities which allows them to update information to a back office database or a remote wireless printer.  With the terminals it is a matter of matching the customers needs with the most appropriate device for his particular requirements.
